The project consists of a single storey extension to an existing 1 and a half storey property. The extension forms an outdoor garden room to provide focus around the garden landscaping, creating a room which has the capability to open up to the garden through a glazed sliding and bi-fold door. The use of materials was key to the project for the client and brief, the extension required to be modern but use the existing palette of materials in a contemporary way to tie the new to the existing house. This was done through the use of Denfind stone sourced from the nearby Denfind quarry to tie in with the existing natural Denfind stone on the existing house.

The eaves level ties through and is detailed to match the existing house whilst below, feature panelling above the glazing links to the existing but with a contemporary interpretation. The cohesive sequence of spaces from outside to inside, combined with the feature wood burning stove, provides a peaceful and secluded space for both relaxing and entertaining.
